Awaken to Multidimensionality

There is much discussion about the notion of human multidimensionality. What, exactly, does it mean? We know that physically, our world consists of three dimensions. The first dimension begins with a point in space, the second, a line between this and another point, the third, allowing depth - length, height, depth. The fourth dimension is said to be time, and if we add time to the first three dimensions we can measure a three dimensional object as it changes over time. Time is the dimension of changeability. Scientists tell us that there are an infinite number of dimensions and each dimension is infinite. There are those who believe that the fifth dimension is compassion and that bringing the highest form of feeling into our dimensionality allows us to embrace all dimensions, infinitely. What do YOU think?

Personally, I aspire to transcend dimensional theory as I see it as somewhat divisive. The aspiration in Zen is the realisation that time is an illusion (there is only now), and if this is so, so must be space - (all is one).

Where I am at right now is that I can sort of see, that where the boundary of my body begins the space between it and the next person/object begins, there is no gap between it and therefore no gap between that space and the next person/object.

Therefore it is only my ego-consciousness that creates separation. If you can understand all that. It's not so easy to put into words! :-)

Regarding the emotions, I aspire to transcend this also, for if all is one, and that one-ness is eternal, then all emotions are born as a result of the illusion that time exists as a result of desire which the Buddha, in his enlightenment, discovered is the source of all suffering - and that too is an illusion. It is like a cosmic game we play with ourselves in which we pretend to suffer! LOL

Derek, this makes total sense. I had a great Zen teacher, if he was still around I'm sure he would have loved what you said.

In the illusion that is constantly reshaping itself, there are multiple worlds that we seem to (supposedly) pass through or have little snapshots of every now and then. But as far as I can personally make out, the fine veils between these worlds seem to be shrinking. Yes, in Truth there's no going anywhere, nor anyone to go anywhere but still all this stuff happens. It's beautifully bewildering and constantly astounding what seems to be going on.

There are definitely other dimensions, or they could be seen as levels of awareness. The books I am reading of late ("The Field" and "Truth vs Falsehood") deal with scientific study of what others may describe as paranormal or esoteric. They have proved that there is a Field of Consciousness, which they call the Zero Point Field, where all things are connected at all times, and where all knowledge, past, present and future is stored.

The levels of consciousness, described by David R. Hawkins in "Truth vs Falsehood" begin with the basic animalistic instincts of survival, unfortunately still evident in much of mankind, and rises to the caring consciousness of one's neighbour, and further to the awareness that something's out there and finally to the full realization of the Spiritual (Zero Point Field)(very simplified). At this point the perception of reality has changed and indeed can be determined.

In the levels leading to this perfect awareness we learn to experiment with our limited knowledge in many ways. Some try meditation to raise their awareness, others work on the healing of themselves and others, and others learn to create new possibilities in their physical world. But all advancement in knowledge and awareness helps to raise the global level of consciousness. So the more we all talk about it and help others the better.

Quantum physics has become more and more pure philosophical abstraction using mathematics. I don't pretend to understand. A lot of it occurs in a pure other space of symbols. The ideas that flow out of this other space can only be experienced as mental constructs because they seem so far away from our normal reality. Things like superdeterminism, the many worlds theory, and implicate order have very deep philosophical implications.

The concept of linear time, from "past"-"present"-"future" is for me untenable. We cannot access the past except in reference to it via books, architecture, various forms of information retrieval, but when we interact with that information it is in the "now".

We cannot interact with the "future", other than through educated projection based on information in the "now".

Perhaps a challenge to our understanding is where does the "now" find its source. The taoists will say "the void". My feeling is that all reality is continuously emerging from the void into pre-configured reality moulded on the existent "architecture".

The structure is defined by its "volatility" - a table is less "volatile" than a tree, than a fruit, than a human, than a thought. The mystics refer to its level of vibration, from coarse to fine.

As we become aware of this process through various techniques like yoga, t'ai chi and meditation, training the mind to let go of its insecure grip on what we see as "reality" other structural forms are more able to be accessed.

The Buddhists speak Blissful Pure Land, the Sufis of Hadarat. The Buddhist belief in compassion as the "energy" as the source of this creation matches the Sufi practice of opening the heart, the symbol of love, as a driving force.

explanation from the ancient indian script: the dimension i.e multi dimension as u say is confined and limited for the human consciousness having 5 sensory perceptions to understand.the pure human consciosness itself is of infinite dimension it is impossible to understand the theory of multidimension by mere logic it has to be experienced in trance when our mind is calm in meditation we feel the love of god.
according to our ancient scripts of india the self or the soul is the most subtle even smaller than an atom to understand your self is the greatest victory u can have cause beyond ur soul there exists nothing, its the ultimate for the soul is immortal fire cannot burn it,water cannot wet it,cannot be killed by a sword or cannot die cause of any nuclear or atom bombs, soul is the essence of life its the highest dimension to be known bymeditation, trance.it cannot be tested in laboratory and shown it is to be felt by every human being and even it is beyond explanation cause even though u have come to know about highest dimension u cannot express it in words cause it is inexpressible.
so my freind know thy self!!!!

The only dimension I concern myself with is the only one that I have direct experience with: the dimension of NOW.

Eckhart Tolle has written volumes about this.

I don't know - I think I agree that compassion - or it's similar 'non-judgement' - just might be the key to opening to the unity consciousness that is beyond the limited capabilities of the mind.

Those moments when I have reached the experience of the infinite - those moments when I am reaching out from the depths of my heart (in desperate prayer) to all the universe of life and praying for its healing - those moments when my own heart has opened to that degree, I have felt that time itself had disappeared (albeit momentarily), that I had entered a new dimension of experience.

But as to whether it is truly another dimension, I do not know. I do know that of late, it seems the 'conscious' people (do pardon) in my local sphere all seem to be - as well as myself - opening even more and more lately - the rising of the conscious soul is upon us. I have been experiencing new levels of just what you mention - "..to let go of its insecure grip on what we see as "reality" other structural forms are more able to be accessed." I feel like I am more fluid of late - that I can see through the veil just a little more - that the true 'structures' are becoming more real in my daily moment to moment experience of life.

And it is exciting. :)

I think that this is a simple model, (which I like) but obviously must include more of our humanity than specified in the dimensions. The first three dimensions we are born into, but we are also born with a soul or astral/emotional body. Our senses allow us to explore the physical aspects of the first three dimensions right away. I love watching a baby first discover their hand in front of their face, and then turn it and watch it - and then their hand drops and it's like - hey, where id it go? We can only wonder at how much of the astral/emotional babies are able to discover before they develop language. I know my oldest son had an erie way of reading and verbalizing other peoples thoughts when he first began to talk. I think our intuitive nature is operative on the first three dimensional levels and is maybe what propels us to embrace levels beyond three dimensional thinking. Rationality too, would be included here, and yet there are higher levels of mentation that include space and time in more than a linear fashion. Have you ever known anyone to bi-locate (be in two places at once)? The all time/no time experience - is it of the intellect? These models are all so blurry aren't they? But they do allow us to dialogue and evaluate, and thus, recognize and embrace.

I think that the key to this model is seeing the fifth dimension as compassion. If we can truly embrace the all of everything and recognize we are all just one and god pushed out, then we are integrating all dimensions, aren't we? Whatever we choose to call them.

We're heading into a conversation about parrallel and other worlds here. With this sort of stuff, if people start stating the experiences they have had or people they know of have had, it is going to sound like things that are totally unbelievable and are not possible and are absolute nonsense.

All I can say on this topic is it is massive, more complex and extraordinary than people could in any way imagine. As soon as this discussion gets going covering this sort of stuff, it ends up with a mix truth, people with mental illness, people that are fooling around and those that are cynical and skeptical. All I can say is yes, emphatically, there are fascinating things going on and they seem to becoming more common. As for bilocation, I am aware of a real experience of such and it was witnessed by a person with no interest at all in the subject in 1975. And in another case a woman that had died two weeks earlier, drank a cup of coffee with the secretary of a friend of mine and then attended a medical appointment with my friend. But to be honest, we are bordering on stuff that can only sound insane and in no way credible.

Welcome to multidimensionality. Is it more credible if we can measure it? Welcome to three dimensionality. But your point is well taken. Where do we draw the line? Do we need to? If the check out chick is your guru - can the developmentally disabled bagger at the grocery be equally connected? They can certainly deliver information of the spirit if we have the wisdom to hear it.

Parallel worlds really are not that hard to understand. Think of it as every time you have to make a decision, you are throwing an on/off switch which will change all future decisions available to you, it is impossible to know which decision is the most important one, it can be something as simple as crossing the street which can change everything, sometimes we sense somehow that what is simple will have tremendous implications for our lives and can see for a moment where in our life other decisions may have led us. We can think of this in a much wider context, what if Gutenberg had changed the pattern he used for the first Gutenberg bible, it is often small changes that multiply. The concept of the butterfly effect can lead to completely different worlds, for want of a nail, they couldn't shoe the horse, for the want of the horse, they couldn't send the message, for want of the message, you did not get to meet your true love, etc. In the many worlds interpretation, you could effectively say every decision you could have possibly made has been played out in parallel.
